Every Scar is Unique & Tells a Story.

															What is Scar Tissue?
Most people have surgery to alleviate their pain. But months or even years later the scar may feel tight, numb, itchy, painful, and restricts movement. Scars look fine on the surface, but the real problem is what is going on under the scar?
In the body’s amazing ability to fill the wound, Scar Tissue not only develops right after surgery, but often over produces the collagen that is repairing the tissues. Adhesions form and can glue tissues together, limiting the flow of the lymphatic system resulting in chronic swelling. Adhesions can attach to organs, muscles, and tissues causing multiple complications.

What do Scar Adhesions Feel Like?
The sensations caused by scar tissue adhesions can vary depending on the location, extent, and movement. People often describe their discomfort as:
- A pulling, tugging, or tightness
- Burning, tingling, or numbness
- Itching
- Dull aching or throbbing
- Increased sensitivity
- Swelling may become chronic

What Conditions Benefit from Scar Therapy?
Adhesions can form in various ways and in various locations because no two scars are identical. Some common types are:
Abdominal Adhesions: Often surgeries in the abdominal area leave people with pain, digestion disorders, organ dysfunction, and a loss of movement.
Pelvic Adhesions: C-sections and hysterectomy adhesions may attach to organs and cause pain and loss of function.
Mastectomy & Breast Reconstruction Adhesions: Cording or Axillary Web Syndrome is common if lymph nodes are removed. Chest tightness and pulling are signs of adhesion.
Joint Adhesions from Orthopedic Surgeries: Adhesions after joint replacement or any orthopedic surgery can restrict movement and increase pain.
Cosmetic Surgeries: Scar Tissue Therapy minimizes and softens the appearance of scars for greater aesthetics and beauty.

What Does Scar Tissue Therapy Feel Like?
We are often told, “You must break up Scar Tissue,” which can be painful and often produces little results. My approach is GENTLE and learned from Sharon Wheeler’s ScarWork™. Sharon is a Structural Integration practitioner who trained under Dr. Ida Rolf, the founder of Rolfing. Her workshops are taught all over the world due to their tangible results.
What clients are saying…
I had 4 surgeries on my left ankle after sustaining a Pylon Fracture. Deby worked on my scars and surrounding tissue with gentle, yet precise healing approach. My scars and all layers of the surrounding areas had more movement and elasticity! Truly amazing and appreciated in both my career and ability to exercise!

															Medical Massage
NOT A FULL BODY RELAXATION MASSAGE
What is Medical Massage?
The definition of a “Medical” massage is working specific muscles for specific conditions that restrict movement, function, and are painful. Some examples are muscle strains & injuries, whiplash and neck pain, low back pain, sciatica, shoulder pain, and many other conditions.
What Techniques Do You Use?
Having an Oregon Massage License since 1992 and having taken thousands of hours of continuing education and teaching some of the courses myself, I combine Deep Tissue, Myofascia, and Swedish Massage techniques to provide the best treatment for each person. Cupping and hot stones are added as needed. The session goal is to achieve results for the individual needs of each client.
What Conditions Can Be Treated?
Most soft tissue injuries & muscle restrictions! Sessions are focused on the condition that is causing discomfort, pain, numbness, loss of movement, or muscle tightness rather than a full body massage. Conditions often require a minimum of three sessions to relieve the discomfort and restore the range of motion in the area. Some common conditions are:
- Muscle strains & injuries
- Chronic overuse or repetitive strain patterns
- Low back pain
- Shoulder pain – Rotator cuff injuries
- Whiplash & neck pain
- Sciatica & hip pain
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Tendonitis
- Golfer or Tennis Elbow
- Temporomandibular Joint Pain (TMJ)
Do You Work with People Who Have Been in an Auto Accident?
Yes. Oregon is a “no fault” state which means your own auto insurance company will pay your medical bills whether it was or was not your fault. In order to bill your auto insurance for you, your claim must be verified and all forms filled out prior to your first appointment.
What Can You Expect from Your Massage?
- My complete focus on your specific condition – NO FULL BODY MASSAGE.
- Specific muscle work for your specific condition – no cookie cutter routines.
- All my intention to achieve the goal of releasing tight muscles so your pain & restrictions are relieved.
- Pressure of the techniques is totally in your control & your pain tolerance.
- Depending on the severity of your condition multiple sessions may be needed to achieve the goal. 3 sessions are highly recommended.
